With the onset of hot weather, we've been busy putting irrigation systems in to keep all our young plants happy and healthy.  For most of the permanent seedlings, we used pipe laid along the ground with drippers to each plant, but our vegie patch seemed to warrant something special...

Surely it's a sin not to eat an apple every day when they're so round and rosy and ripe and sweet and crisp and right there in the backyard!  This is the harvest from our best tree, what we believe is a lovely Fuji (many thanks to previous owners Stuart and Eunice for having the foresight to plant an orchard all those years ago).   

And better than going to the supermarket too...

Where did that vegie patch go.... the one carefully tended last autumn... maybe north to Queensland for a holiday... but no... here it is under all these weeds and clumps of grass!  Still, it seems there are others in the same predicament... a lovely poem from Julie Hanson on the Poetry Daily website...
